Autumn is one of our favorite seasons. It is magical to watch the leaves change colors and appreciate just how beautiful nature’s palette can be. It is a time to focus on gratitude and thanks.
Certainly, in these still surreal times, one of the best ways that we have found to relax, clear our heads, and enjoy the season, is to go outside for a walk! Therefore, we try to focus on being mindful – being aware of our surroundings, looking for things in nature, taking deep breaths of the crisp autumn air, and listening to the sounds around us. Above all, not only is it good Family Standard Time, but it helps us deal with the myriad of emotions that we can feel every day too!
One way to add a little fun to any walk is with a Photo Scavenger Hunt! So we’ve put together a list of things that you can often find in nature during this time of year!
You can do this activity as an entire family or split up into teams. Each group or team will need a copy of the scavenger hunt list and a camera. You can set a time limit or just take a leisurely walk. In the end, see how many items on the scavenger hunt list you can find.
Whatever you decide, it’s a great way to be more aware of the natural world. Enjoy the beauty around you. Focus on your breathing as you walk. Try to let go of any worry you’re currently carrying and be present in each moment. Talk with your family about what you see. Most importantly, have fun. Enjoy your Family Standard Time because you can make amazing memories and maybe even de-stress along the way!
