Frozen Lemonade Slushie

Frozen Lemonade Slushie

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Elbert Hubbard

Homemade lemonade is always a fabulous treat on a hot day, but a fun way to mix it up and make it even more refreshing is by turning it into a frozen slushie! And the best part of making your own lemonade at home is that if you prefer yours on the tart side, then you can add more lemon juice; if you prefer yours on the sweet side, then you can add more simple syrup; or if you prefer yours watered down a bit, then you can add more water. It’s super easy and delicious!

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

Lemonade

2/3 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (about 4 to 5 lemons)

1 tbsp lemon zest

2 cups water

4-6 cups ice (depending on how slushie you want to make your drink)

Directions

Make the simple syrup: Combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat while stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely.

Prepare the lemonade: Mix the simple syrup, lemon juice, lemon zest, and water in a blender. Add the ice. Blend and add ice until you reach your desired slushie consistency. Then pour into glasses, pucker up, and enjoy!
