Boba Tea Tasting Tour

Boba Tea Tasting Tour

Food and beverage tasting tours have been hugely popular in major cities, both domestic and worldwide, for a long time. From cupcakes to adult libations, there’s pretty much a tasting tour for everything. But with some research and creativity, your family can personalize the experience and make it happen on your own.

Our family has a small obsession with boba tea. Okay, it’s not a small obsession. To be honest, I can’t even remember specifically when or how it started. Aside from being delicious and often beautiful, there’s something fun and exciting about all of the flavor and texture combinations. The options are endless – teas, fruits, tapioca pearl boba, popping juice bubbles…we love them all. The shops themselves are truly unique and inviting. Unfortunately, our absolute favorite boba tea shop we’ve ever tried, Boba Guys, closed its locations in NYC last year. We’ve purchased a few supplies from them to make our own boba tea drinks at home. The Boba Guys also published an absolutely beautiful recipe book just last year that we love.

In an effort to find boba tea shops a bit closer to home, we sat down and did some research. As a result, we actually discovered several options within a 30-minute or so radius of us. Which lead us to a fun Family Standard Time idea – our own boba tea tasting tour! We selected six boba tea shops. Two of them were in our own town and the rest were in surrounding local towns. Over the course of a week, we drove to one of the shops each day and purchased a small variety of boba teas. We even hacked a couple popular drinks from Starbucks by adding popping boba ourselves at home for a fun twist! It was nice to support local businesses when many are struggling. And it was a fun activity that we looked forward to each day that week.

Now we have a few new favorite boba tea shops locally. We are always on the lookout for new places to try also. So whether your family likes boba tea too, or prefers cupcakes, ice cream, wings, or something else, creating your own family tasting tour can be a fun experience to explore your community and beyond! In the end, it’s all about good Family Standard Time fun and memories!
